Synechococcus
Synechococcus is a type of photosynthetic cyanobacterium that can be found in aquatic and terrestrial environments. It is a key contributor to ocean productivity and is capable of fixing nitrogen and carbon dioxide into organic matter. Synechococcus is also a major component of marine and freshwater microbial communities, playing an important role in global biogeochemical cycles. In addition, Synechococcus can also be used in bioproduction applications, such as the production of organic compounds, biofuels, and biopharmaceuticals. Its potential for biofuel production makes it an important resource in the sustainability of future energy sources.
