Anabaena

Anabaena is a genus of filamentous cyanobacteria found in freshwater and marine environments. This genus of cyanobacteria are important for their ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen and make it available as a nutrient for other organisms. They are also known for their nitrogen fixation symbiosis with certain plants, such as legumes.
