Anabaena
Anabaena is a genus of filamentous cyanobacteria found in freshwater and marine environments. This genus of cyanobacteria are important for their ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen and make it available as a nutrient for other organisms. They are also known for their nitrogen fixation symbiosis with certain plants, such as legumes. Anabaena is now increasingly being used in biotechnology applications, such as in the development of biofuels and other renewable energy sources, as well as its potential use in water remediation and the removal of nutrients from wastewater.
