Anisakis
Anisakis is a genus of parasitic worms that are commonly found in fish and other marine mammals. These worms cause a condition known as anisakiasis, which can cause severe abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting in humans who consume infected seafood. Anisakiasis can be prevented by properly cooking seafood before consumption, as this will kill the worms. Anisakiasis can also be treated with anti-parasitic medications. Anisakis has become increasingly important due to recent increases in the consumption of raw or undercooked seafood. Awareness of Anisakis and its prevention and treatment is therefore important for public health.
