Cleft Lip Surgery
Cleft lip surgery is a surgical procedure used to correct birth defects in the lip and mouth caused by a cleft lip. This procedure involves reconstructing the lip and closing the tissue gap from the nose to the upper lip. The surgery is usually performed on infants between 3 and 6 months of age, within 18 months of birth. Cleft lip surgery is important as it increases function and improves the aesthetics of the face for the patient. It can also prevent problems such as difficulty eating, dental issues, and hearing loss. Cleft lip surgery is a safe and effective way to treat a cleft lip, providing the patient with lasting results.
