Cytogenetics
Cytogenetics is the study of chromosomes and their function in cellular structure, development and differentiation. It is a key tool in the overall study of genetics and is used to identify and track genetic-level modifications as well as to diagnose and treat genetic diseases and understand the process of evolution. Through its analysis of chromosome structure and function, cytogenetics helps scientists understand how genes interact with each other and how they affect the overall health of an organism. Cytogenetics is also important for understanding common diseases and how they affect the development of various conditions.
