Fragile X Syndrome
Fragile X Syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by a mutation in a gene on the X chromosome. It is the most common inherited form of intellectual disability and the leading cause of autism. It is characterized by intellectual disability, as well as anxiety, autism-like behaviors, and physical features. Treatment typically involves a combination of medications, behavioral therapy, and educational interventions. Fragile X Syndrome has significant implications for the individual, their family, and the wider society. Early diagnosis and intervention are essential to maximize the potential of those affected and greatly reduce the burden of the condition.
