Genetic Syndromes
Genetic syndromes are inherited disorders caused by changes or mutations in one or more genes. They can occur spontaneously or be passed on from one generation to the next. Genetic syndromes can cause a wide range of health problems, including physical and mental disabilities, and can affect different parts of the body. Early diagnosis and treatment of genetic syndromes can often improve a person’s quality of life, prevent long-term health problems, and even provide a cure. New developments in genetic research and technology are allowing scientists to better understand how these syndromes work and develop better ways to diagnose and treat them. This can help provide new hope to individuals and families affected by genetic syndromes.
