Homozygosity Mapping

Homozygosity mapping is a technique used in genetics to identify regions of the genome that contain gene variants that are inherited together. It is used to identify regions that are likely to contain causative mutations for inherited diseases. By identifying these regions, homozygosity mapping facilitates the process of disease gene identification and helps to identify novel gene candidates for further research. Additionally, it can provide insight into the mode of inheritance and the genetic basis of a particular disorder.
