Mutagens
Mutagens are chemical or physical agents that cause permanent changes to the genetic material within a cell, leading to mutations that can be passed down to succeeding generations. Mutagens are commonly used in genetics and biotechnology research, as they can be utilized to create new genetic traits and genetic mutations in organisms. Mutagens can be used to study genetic inheritance, genetic diseases, and to create new varieties of plants, animals, and other organisms. They are also used in clinical trials to assess the safety of drugs and other potential treatments. Mutagens can have both beneficial and harmful effects, and a better understanding of them can lead to less harmful mutations in humans and other species.
