Recessive Traits

Recessive traits are inherited characteristics which are only expressed when both parents pass on the same recessive gene. These traits are not often expressed in the parents, but can be expressed in their offspring. Recessive traits are an important part of genetics research and can help scientists to better understand the inheritance of certain traits. Recessive traits can also be used in the agriculture and animal breeding industries, allowing breeders to select for desired characteristics. In addition, understanding recessive traits can help in identifying genetic disorders and in diagnosing and treating patients with genetic conditions.
