Ribosomes

Ribosomes are an integral component of the cellular machinery and are responsible for protein synthesis. They are found in a wide range of organisms, from bacteria to humans. They consist of two subunits, each composed of a variety of proteins and ribosomal RNA molecules. The two subunits interact with each other to form a ribosome, which acts as a site for protein synthesis. Ribosomes play an important role in the translation of messenger RNA (mRNA) into proteins, a process known as translation. Ribosomes are also important for understanding and designing drugs that can target proteins involved in disease processes.
