Viral Vectors
Viral vectors are artificial viruses that have been genetically modified to carry genetic material into a cell safely. They are important tools for the genetic modification of cells for a variety of medical, agricultural, and research applications. For example, viral vectors can be used in gene therapy to introduce new genetic material into a person's cells to treat genetic diseases, or to introduce desirable traits into crop plants. Viral vectors are also used in basic research to study gene regulation, protein-protein interactions, and drug development.
