Yellow Fluorescent Protein
Yellow Fluorescent Protein (YFP) is a fluorescent protein naturally derived from the coral Aequorea victoria. It is one of the most widely used markers in biomedical research due to its high brightness. YFP is used in a variety of techniques, including microscopy, flow cytometry, and western blotting, to monitor protein expression and localization in living cells. By attaching YFP to other proteins and molecules, it is possible to track their movements and study their interactions. YFP can also be used to detect the presence of certain proteins quickly and efficiently in a single sample. The use of YFP has been essential in understanding the roles of proteins in physiological processes as well as in developing new treatments for various diseases.
