Glycerides
Glycerides are a type of chemical compound consisting of a glycerol molecule combined with three fatty acid molecules. They are a major component of oils and fats, and are used for energy storage, as well as for many other important biological processes. In addition, glycerides are used in food production as emulsifiers, solvents and flavorings. They are also used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and chemical industries. Glycerides are essential for human health because they are a component of cell membranes, lipoproteins and triglycerides—the main form of dietary energy storage. Furthermore, their anti-inflammatory properties may be beneficial in treating some medical conditions.
