Hyperglycemia
Hyperglycemia, which means high blood sugar, occurs when the body has too much glucose in the blood. When the body can’t use all the glucose in the bloodstream, it builds up and can cause numerous health problems. This can lead to long-term, serious issues such as nerve and kidney damage, stroke, heart attack, and even blindness. Hyperglycemia is a common and dangerous complication of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, but it can also be caused by certain medications, excessive alcohol consumption, and in some cases, obesity. It is essential to monitor blood sugar levels and take appropriate steps as necessary to keep them in check. Without proper management, hyperglycemia can lead to severe complications and even life-threatening events.

Glycomics is particularly important in microbiology because glycans play diverse roles in bacterial physiology. Metabolomics combines strategies to identify and quantify cellular metabolites using sophisticated analytical technologies with the application of statistical and multi-variant methods for information extraction and data interpretation.
