Epilepsy Therapeutics
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures. Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders, affecting people of all ages. Epilepsy treatments, or 'epilepsy therapeutics' are the medications and devices used to treat epilepsy. They include antiepileptic drugs, medical devices such as vagus nerve stimulation and implantable stimulators, and resective surgery. Each type of therapy is designed to reduce the severity or frequency of seizures. By providing effective therapies, these treatments can reduce the risk of fatal outcomes in people with epilepsy. They also improve quality of life by reducing or eliminating seizures and allowing individuals to pursue an active lifestyle. Epilepsy therapeutics are an important component of comprehensive care for people living with the condition.
