Polytherapy Drug Treatment
Polytherapy drug treatment is the use of multiple drugs to treat a medical condition. It is used when one single drug is not enough to tackle the issue, either due to its ineffectiveness or simply to avoid side effects or drug resistance. This approach is used frequently in many areas, including cancer, mental health, infectious diseases and inflammation. In many cases, polytherapy offers some advantages over monotherapy (treatment with only one drug) such as more effective treatment and lower doses of each drug. However, it also has some potential risks, such as drug interactions and potential for drug toxicity. As a result, it is important for healthcare professionals to carefully assess the benefits and risks of polytherapy before recommending the treatment.
