Allergology

Allergology is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and management of allergies. It is a subspecialty of Immunology and Immunopathology, and focuses on allergic reactions to environmental triggers, such as pollens, moulds, animals, food and insect bites. Common allergies are typically managed with medications, immunotherapy and lifestyle changes. Allergology is a growing field, as more people are affected by allergies due to changes in climate, diet and lifestyle, and increased levels of pollution. Allergists are specialised medical professionals who diagnose and manage allergic diseases, and can help people maintain a healthy lifestyle that is free from allergic triggers.
