Churg-strauss Syndrome
Churg-Strauss Syndrome (CSS) is a rare, chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder characterized by asthma, allergic and/or other respiratory symptoms, vasculitis, and eosinophilia. It is also known as allergic granulomatosis and angiitis. The disorder is thought to have an autoimmune component and is often associated with other autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and lupus. CSS is treated with a combination of steroids and immunosuppressants in order to reduce inflammation and to reduce the risk of organ damage. The prognosis for those with CSS varies, but early recognition and treatment is essential in order to avoid more serious complications.
