Aminocaproic Acid
Aminocaproic acid is a synthetic compound used to treat excessive bleeding. It works by blocking the breakdown of fibrin, a protein necessary for the formation of clots and the prevention of bleeding. This makes it especially useful in the treatment of bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia, as well as surgical complications and other instances of uncontrolled bleeding. It is also used to treat fibroids, chronic nosebleeds, and heavy menstrual bleeding. It is generally considered safe and well tolerated, with few serious side effects.
