Antifungal Agents
Antifungal agents are substances that are used to treat fungal infections, most commonly caused by fungi such as moulds and yeasts. They can come in the form of topical creams and ointments, as well as systemic medicines. The antifungal agents act by killing or preventing the growth of the fungal cells. These agents are used to treat common fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, and other skin, nail, and scalp infections. Antifungal agents are also used to treat more serious fungal infections, such as deep tissue and organ infections, as well as some types of cancer and HIV. Antifungal agents have become increasingly important in recent years as the global prevalence of fungal infections has increased due to increased international travel, improved medical technology, and increasing global temperatures. They are essential for the prevention and treatment of these diseases, ensuring that people can live healthy and productive lives.
