Widal Test
The Widal Test is an immunological test used in medical diagnosis to identify a current or past infection from Salmonella bacteria. It works by measuring the antibodies produced against two specific proteins of the bacteria, namely O-somatic antigen and H-flagellar antigen. By measuring the levels of antibodies against these antigens, it can be determined whether a patient is currently or was previously infected with Salmonella bacteria. The Widal Test is used for early detection of Salmonella infections, and is essential for prompt identification and implementation of effective treatment, which ultimately improves patient outcome.
