Notch Signaling

Notch signaling is a process in multicellular organisms that helps regulate the development and progression of a wide range of activities, including cell fate determination, differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis. This process relies on binding between transmembrane receptors and ligands on adjacent cells. Notch signaling is critical for many developmental processes and for the maintenance of tissue homeostasis in adult animals. It is involved in processes such as the formation of embryonic organs, neuronal development, cell-fate specification, and lymphogenesis. In addition, Notch signaling is believed to play a role in cancer, as it has been linked to various tumor types. Understanding the Notch signaling pathway is therefore essential for the development of treatments for various diseases.
