System Biology & Synthetic Biology
Systems biology and synthetic biology are two interrelated areas of research in the field of biotechnology. Through a focus on understanding and manipulating biological systems, both fields aim to design and control biological organisms to achieve desired outcomes. Systems biology seeks to study biological networks at the systems level to understand their functions, while synthetic biology uses engineering techniques to design and construct components that can be used to control and manipulate biological networks. Both are important for developing new treatments for diseases and for bioproduction of useful substances. Both systems biology and synthetic biology have applications in fields such as medicine, agriculture, and bioremediation.
