Ehealth
Ehealth, also known as electronic health, refers to the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to improve health and healthcare services. The integration of ICTs into the healthcare industry has revolutionized the way health information is shared, managed and retrieved, enabling timely and efficient delivery of health services to patients. Ehealth encompasses a wide range of digital tools and platforms, including electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine, health apps, wearable technologies, and online patient portals. With EHRs, for example, patient information can be easily accessed and shared amongst healthcare providers, reducing the likelihood of medication errors and inefficiencies in diagnoses. Telemedicine, on the other hand, facilitates remote consultations, making it possible for health professionals to diagnose, treat and monitor patients in different locations. Health apps and wearable technologies have also become an important part of ehealth, enabling patients to monitor their health conditions and track their progress using their smartphones and other devices. The benefits of ehealth are numerous. For one, it makes healthcare services more accessible to people in remote areas who might not have easy access to healthcare facilities. Ehealth also enhances patient safety by reducing the likelihood of medication errors and improving real-time access to medical information. In conclusion, ehealth has great potential in transforming the healthcare industry, improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services. It is expected that more ehealth tools will emerge in the future, enabling even greater integration of technology into the healthcare industry.
