Bronchitis
Bronchitis is an inflammation of the airways (the bronchi) that connects the windpipe to the lungs. It's a common condition that affects millions of people each year. In most cases, bronchitis is caused by a virus and can be contagious. Symptoms of bronchitis include frequent coughing with mucus, wheezing, chest pain, and a fever. Treatment includes rest, fluids, and over-the-counter medication to relieve symptoms. In more severe cases, antibiotics may be prescribed. Bronchitis can be prevented by avoiding contact with people who have the virus, getting immunized against the flu, avoiding smoking, and washing hands regularly.
