Disease Ecology
Disease ecology is the study of how activities, processes and conditions within an environment impact the prevalence, transmission, severity and spread of infectious diseases. It is an interdisciplinary field that brings together epidemiology, ecology, evolutionary biology, immunology, mathematics, and geography. By studying how diseases interact with the environment, scientists and public health practitioners can better understand and mitigate their impacts. This knowledge can be used to develop better disease control strategies, better predict disease outbreaks, and improve health outcomes.
