Infectious Diseases Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Infectious diseases are illnesses caused by microscopic organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites that are transmitted from person to person. Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are a type of infectious disease that is caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites that are spread through unprotected sexual contact. STDs can cause serious and life-threatening illnesses as well as complications during pregnancy. Many people are unaware that they are infected with an STD and are at risk of infecting others. For this reason, it is important to practice safer sex and get tested regularly for STDs in order to prevent their spread and avoid the health complications that can result from an untreated STD.
