Couple Therapy Research
Couple therapy research is the scientific study of the dynamics of romantic relationships. It focuses on the interactions between partners, their individual traits and behaviors, as well as how external factors impact the quality of the relationship. Couple therapy research can be used to advance clinical practice by testing and validating psychotherapeutic methods, such as attachment-based interventions, to improve the outcomes of couples therapy. It can also be used to better understand the dynamics of relationships, including identifying what puts relationships at risk for dissolution or relationship conflict. Additionally, couple therapy research can be utilized to inform policy decisions related to marriage and relationship education, as well as interventions that can be used to help couples strengthen existing relationships and aid those who are looking to enter into a relationship.
