Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the psychosocial aspects of treatment. It combines standard cognitive-behavioural techniques for emotion regulation and reality-testing with concepts such as distress tolerance, mindfulness, and acceptance. DBT is used for a variety of conditions, including bipolar disorder, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, and borderline personality disorder. It has been found to be effective in helping individuals learn more effective ways of dealing with emotion regulation, interpersonal relationships, and overall mental wellbeing. DBT is increasingly being used as a form of evidence-based therapy to improve outcomes for individuals in both long-term and short-term settings.
