Health Psychology
Health psychology is an area of psychology that focuses on how physical health, mental health, and the social context of health and illness intersect. It looks at how people think, feel and act in response to physical and mental health, health care systems, and social factors. Health psychologists work to understand how social, biological, and psychological factors influence health and illness. They use evidence-based research to study factors that can help people lead a healthier lifestyle or manage chronic health conditions. Health psychologists also develop interventions to improve the prevention and treatment of physical and mental health concerns. Ultimately, the aim of health psychology is to improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities.
