Social Discrimination
Social discrimination is an issue that has been studied in various disciplines, including sociology, psychology and public health. It is defined as the unequal treatment of individuals and groups of people in different social contexts, on the basis of features like their race, ethnicity, gender and socio-economic status. This discrimination can manifest in a variety of contexts, from the workplace, to the justice system and even in health care settings. Social discrimination can lead to negative outcomes, such as decreased employment and education opportunities, higher rates of mental health issues and physical health issues, as well as increased risk for poverty. Social discrimination is a major concern in many societies, and interventions are needed to reduce its detrimental effects on those affected by it.
