Mineralocorticoids
Mineralocorticoids are a type of steroid hormone that help regulate salt and water balance in the body and maintain blood pressure. Unlike glucocorticoids, which are primarily responsible for stress responses and immune function, mineralocorticoids are specifically required for normal electrolyte concentrations in the body. As such, they play a key role in maintaining healthy blood pressure and fluid balance. Imbalances in mineralocorticoids can lead to conditions such as Addison’s disease and Conn’s syndrome. Mineralocorticoids can also be used to treat certain lymphomas and other progressive diseases. Furthermore, they are often prescribed to treat high blood pressure, heart failure, and certain electrolyte imbalances.
