Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique which involves the use of a thin, lighted tube (laparoscope) to diagnose and treat diseases of the abdominal area. It is also known as “keyhole surgery” as the tiny incisions made are much smaller than other traditional surgical methods. Laparoscopy can be used to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions including infertility, endometriosis, gastrointestinal diseases, cancers, and abdominal pain. Its advantages over traditional open surgery include smaller trauma to the body, less pain and scarring, faster recovery times, and less risk of infection. Laparoscopy is a versatile and effective surgical technique that is increasingly being used in modern medicine.
