Bench-To-Bedside

Bench-to-bedside is a concept of translational medicine - a multi-faceted approach to integrating laboratory-based research with clinical care. It is an important ingredient of modern medicine, as it enables testing and implementation of new treatments and therapies in a rapid and cost-effective way. The ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between basic science and clinical practice to improve patient care. Research generated in a laboratory setting can be quickly applied to the clinical setting, and results obtained in the clinical setting can be used to more efficiently and accurately inform research in the laboratory. Bench-to-bedside also provides a platform for physicians and scientists to work together to solve complex medical challenges for patients.
