Translational Virology
Translational virology is the field of research which seeks to study how viruses function in the context of human biology and how they can be used to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This field of research is of great importance due to its potential to develop novel and more effective treatments through engineering viruses to be used as therapeutic agents. Additionally, translational virology is essential for understanding how viruses impact their hosts, how they are transmitted and spread, and how to prevent and control their spread. This research has applications for vaccine production, gene therapy, cancer immunotherapy and personalized medicine.
