Biogeography of Birds
Biogeography is the study of the geographic distribution of living organisms, and the biogeography of birds is the study of the geographic distributions of bird species. These distributions provide insight into the evolution, ecology, and conservation of birds. By observing their geographic ranges, researchers can determine if a species is endangered, identify migration patterns, analyze how climate change might affect a species' habitat and survival, and observe how competition and species interactions change as species move into new areas. Additionally, the study of bird biogeography can help inform conservation efforts by informing us of which species and habitats are most at risk from current human activities.
