What to prepare, what you will be asked to declare, and how a manuscript moves through this journal.
Questions about fit, allowances or a specific manuscript are answered by the editorial office.
Before you submit
Read the Aims and Scope first. A manuscript belongs here when it makes a substantive contribution to precision agriculture — to its understanding, measurement, analysis, modeling, development, validation, application, adoption, governance, economics or implementation. Crop and livestock production systems are both in scope. Theory, methodological work, syntheses, reviews, validation studies and adoption research are eligible alongside field experiments.
Routine article types: Research Article; Review Article; Systematic Review and Meta-analysis; Methods/Technology Article; Data/Resource Article; Short Communication; Application/Case Study.
Invitation-only formats: Editorial — invitation only; Perspective/Commentary — invitation only.
If you are unsure whether a manuscript fits, the editorial office will read a title and abstract and tell you before you prepare a full submission.
Preparing the manuscript
Prepare the manuscript so that a reader in a neighboring field can follow it:
- An abstract that states the question, what was done, what was found and what it means, written so it stands alone.
- Keywords that reflect the subject, the method and the production system.
- A methods account complete enough for another group to repeat the work, including instruments, sampling design, sites and seasons where relevant.
- Results reported with the uncertainty that belongs to them, and figures and tables that are legible at the size they will be printed.
- A discussion that separates what the evidence supports from what it suggests.
- Complete, checkable references in one consistent style.
Length, structure and format
Word, abstract, keyword, reference, figure and table allowances depend on the kind of manuscript you are submitting. Confirm the current allowances with the editorial office before you prepare the final version, and follow the publisher’s manuscript formatting guidance for file formats, figure resolution and reference layout.
Declarations you will be asked for
- Authorship: every listed author has contributed substantially and approved the submitted version.
- Conflicts of interest: any relationship a reader could consider capable of influencing the work.
- Ethics approval, and informed consent where human participants are involved.
- Funding, including grant numbers where they exist.
- A data-availability statement. Every empirical research manuscript must include a data-availability statement.
If you ask for double-blind review
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
For double-blind review, remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, funding details, institution names, and other identifying information from the reviewer manuscript. Provide identifying information separately in the title-page file or submission form.

Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.
After submission
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. An article processing charge applies only to a manuscript that has been accepted. The withdrawal policy is available on the APC page.
