Adult Acquired Flatfoot
Adult Acquired Flatfoot is a condition that affects the foot and ankle, causing the arch of the foot to collapse. The condition is often caused by tendinitis of the posterior tibial tendon, a tendon that supports the arch of the foot. It is most common in adults aged 40-60. Symptoms of Adult Acquired Flatfoot can include pain and swelling in the inside of the ankle, difficulty walking and standing for long periods, and a visible flattening of the arch of the foot. Treatment for the condition may include rest, wearing appropriate supportive shoes, physical therapy exercises and braces, or, in severe cases, surgery. Early diagnosis and treatment are important for maintaining foot function and preventing the condition from getting worse.
