Bipolar Illness

Bipolar Illness is a mental disorder that causes extreme shifts in a person’s mood, energy and ability to think clearly. These shifts can range from periods of intense energy, creativity and happiness (known as manic episodes) to periods of extreme sadness, despair and lethargy (known as depressive episodes). Bipolar Illness can be a debilitating condition that affects a person's ability to function in everyday life and can lead to serious difficulties in social and professional life, as well as potentially suicidal thoughts. Treatment for bipolar disorder includes a combination of medication and psychotherapy. With the right diagnosis and treatment, individuals with bipolar disorder can live full and productive lives.
