False Memories

False Memories are spurious recollections of events that did not take place or are exaggerated versions of actual events. They are typically generated through a combination of external and internal cues and can be quite common in everyday life. Research has shown that false memories are associated with a wide range of psychological issues such as amnesia, PTSD, and depression. False Memories can also be used to study the cognitive processes underlying memory formation, as well as to improve therapeutic interventions that help individuals remember past events.
