Injury Prevention
Injury prevention is an important method of healthcare that seeks to protect and reduce the risk of individual injury as well as injury to a larger population. It can encompass both proactive strategies such as safety education, safety policies, and safety regulations and reactive strategies such as providing first aid or medical care and rehabilitation. Safe environments, equipment and practices are promoted to prevent or reduce the occurrence of injuries and their associated costs. Injury prevention is beneficial to individuals, organizations, and communities, as it decreases the number of medical care costs, lost wages, and other economic losses due to injury.
