Pathophysiology of Trauma Reactions
Trauma reactions are the physical and psychological responses that occur in reaction to a traumatic event. They can include physical symptoms such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue and changes in appetite, as well as psychological responses such as fear, anxiety, flashbacks and intrusive thoughts. Trauma reactions can affect individuals in different ways and can persist for a long period of time, leading to long-term physical and psychological issues. Recognizing, understanding and treating trauma reactions is important for preventing chronic psychological and physiological issues and improving the overall health of individuals who have experienced trauma.
