Plantar Fasciitis and Bone Spurs
Plantar Fasciitis and Bone Spurs are medical conditions that occur when there is excessive stress and tension placed on the bottom of the foot. The Plantar Fascia is a thick band of tissue that spans the sole of the foot and provides support and stability to the arch. When the fascia is overstretched it can become inflamed and painful, leading to Plantar Fasciitis. Bone Spurs are bony outgrowths that form when a joint or tendon is overworked. They often appear on the heel or along the outside of the foot. Both Plantar Fasciitis and Bone Spurs can cause debilitating pain and limit mobility. Treatment usually involves rest, physical therapy, and orthotics such as cushioned shoe inserts. In more advanced cases, surgery may be necessary.
