Trauma Therapy
Trauma therapy is a type of psychotherapy used to treat people who have experienced psychological trauma, such as abuse, violence, and natural disasters. The goal of trauma therapy is to help people better cope with their traumatic experience and learn healthy strategies for emotional regulation and improved functioning. Trauma therapy is often practiced in an individual setting, but can also be conducted in a group setting, with either the same trauma survivors or individuals with diverse trauma histories. Through a variety of techniques and strategies, trauma therapy seeks to reconstruct the traumatic event and teach the individual how to process the traumatic memories in healthy ways. The aim of trauma therapy is to help individuals move towards a healthier emotional, psychological, and social functioning.
