Traumatic Abdominal Hernia
A traumatic abdominal hernia is a condition that occurs when a hole forms in the wall of the abdomen, resulting in part of the intestine or other abdominal organs protruding through it. This can occur as a result of an injury such as a fall, blow to the abdomen, or after a surgical operation. It is important to note that a traumatic abdominal hernia is different from a congenital hernia, which is present from birth. Symptoms of a traumatic abdominal hernia may include pain, swelling, nausea, and vomiting. Treatment for a traumatic abdominal hernia depends on the size and location of the tear but generally includes antibiotics and surgery to repair the hernia. Surgery may be recommended because a traumatic abdominal hernia can become a serious health risk if left untreated.
