Traumatic Alopecia
Traumatic Alopecia is a type of hair loss caused by physical trauma such as traction and chemical damage. It can range from mild cases of localized hair loss to extensive hair loss involving the entire scalp. Traumatic Alopecia is particularly common among people who wear tight hairstyles such as cornrows, ponytails, and buns. People with chronic illnesses such as lupus and autoimmune thyroid disease can also be more prone to this type of hair loss. Treatment of Traumatic Alopecia includes topical and oral medications, hair replacement systems, and lifestyle modifications. Proper diagnosis and early treatment is essential to prevent permanent baldness.
