Traumatic Birth Injuries
Traumatic birth injuries are physical damage to the baby or mother caused by the use of excessive force during the delivery process. These injuries can result in lifelong physical and emotional repercussions. Common traumatic birth injuries include fetal skull and brain injury, organ damage, soft tissue injury, and fractures. Fortunately, the use of proper medical techniques and the implementation of safer birthing procedures can greatly reduce the risk of traumatic birth injuries. As such, it is essential that healthcare providers properly monitor the birthing process, adequately train medical staff in safe birthing practices, and implement any necessary medical interventions in a timely manner. Furthermore, utilizing midwives and doulas has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of traumatic birth injuries.
