Klebsiella Oxytoca
Klebsiella oxytoca is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium commonly found in natural environments such as soil, water, and food. It can cause infections in humans, and is found as a pathogen in, for example, urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections and wound infections. As an emerging multi-drug-resistant pathogen, Klebsiella oxytoca is an important emerging problem in the management of infection. It is of particular concern in hospitals and other health care settings, where it can cause severe infections with significant medical outcomes. To reduce the risk of infection with Klebsiella oxytoca, it is important to practice effective hand hygiene, use preventative measures such as vaccinations, and follow appropriate antibiotic stewardship practices.
