Microalbuminuria

Microalbuminuria is a condition in which small amounts of a protein called albumin are found in the urine. It is typically a sign of kidney disease, and is an early indicator of diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure). Early detection and treatment of these conditions can help reduce the risk of serious complications such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Microalbuminuria also is used to monitor how well treatment is working in people with existing kidney and heart disease.
